SYS is getting scholarly! Join Shakti Julia in September for a weekly book club on “Nonviolent Communication” by Marshall Rosenberg. This book helps us get in touch with our feelings and needs – turning conflict into an opportunity for empathic connection. Through open discussion, partner exercises, mantra, meditation and self inquiry, we will endeavor to transform the way we think and act in relationship to others and ourselves.

Let’s Talk Tarot


Join Cynthia Ekren at Sebastian Yoga Studio for a 2 hour Tarot Card meet-up.

There will be a short 15-30 minute instruction on some aspect of Tarot before we break out into pairs to practice reading for one another, compare notes and show off our favorite decks.
If you’re interested in tarot, please join us! You will be a welcome addition to the group. If you don’t know anything about the cards, that’s okay. You can listen in, and can ask all the questions you want.

Restorative Yoga Teacher Training

Sebastian Yoga Studio

Join Judy Foreman Curiel at Sebastian Yoga Studio for Restorative Yoga Teacher Training, open to certified yoga instructors, those in yoga teacher training and students passionate about restorative yoga.

In the training, you will learn to:
~ Teach both prop intensive and minimal prop classes
~ Add Restorative poses to more active asana classes
~ Sequence a Restorative Yoga class
~ Make modifications to Restorative poses
~ Substitute Restorative poses by energetics
~ Plan full 90 minute lessons

We will also discuss marketing, safety, props, best practices, silence vs sacred music, themes, creating well- balanced class. This is an interactive training, one will work with several partners and in small groups to practice teach and get comfortable with the new information. A 63 page color manual is included which has 55 pose photos, tips and tricks, and music suggestions.

12 Yoga Alliance CEUs will be awarded.

Join Durgaya Palmieri ERYT 200 and Jessica  ERYT 200 for the Maha Soul 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training. Find yourself in a nurturing community of teachers and fellow yogis seeking to support your growth and help you embrace your path as an evolving student of yoga. This 200 hour training gives you the awareness you need to understand and share the wisdom of yoga as well as guidance in awakening your personal truth.

This Yoga Alliance Certified 200 hr training begins by deepening your level of studentship, offering a thorough understanding of yoga’s ability to heal the body through modern physical alignment as well as ancient techniques of breath work, mudra, chanting and Ayurveda. You will have the opportunity to teach what you have learned to your fellow teacher trainees and to the SYS community through donation based classes, all while under the continued mentorship of Durgaya and Jessica. You will receive helpful feedback and guidance on developing your unique style as you spend the time between sessions on enriching homework.

Time Commitment

Session 1, January: Friday 12th- Monday 15th
Session 2, February: Friday 16th- Monday 19th (Presidents Day)
Session 3, March: Friday 23rd – Monday 26th                                    Session 4, April: Saturday 28th- Sunday 29th                                   Session: 5, May Saturday 26th- Monday 28th

Each day is from 8am-5pm with a 1 hour lunch break.

Financial Commitment

The cost for our teacher training is $2,400. A $500 deposit is due by November 17th, of which $250 is non-refundable and covers your application and processing fees.
We also have an Early Bird Special, which is $2,200 due in full by November 17th.
If you opt for a payment plan, you will make the deposit on November 17th, plus 4 equal payments of $475 on the first of each month from February 1st to May 1st.

Durgaya Palmieri and Jessica Martin’s combined expertise total more than 800 certified hours of training. Both hold the Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200 educator status, and are deeply passionate about sharing their authentic love of yoga and teaching. Together Durgaya and Jessica hold a powerful combination of trainings and passions that range from Jessica’s thorough knowledge of the subtle energies of yoga (mudra, meridians, meditation and breath work) to Durgaya’s comprehensive understanding of the human body, postures, and alignment. Together they will provide students with a thorough and rich understanding of how to teach the ancient practice of yoga with modern techniques.
